What biblical counseling is, and how it shapes the way Christa works with you.

What is biblical counseling?

Biblical counseling is care for the whole person — mind, heart, body, and relationships — shaped by the conviction that Scripture speaks meaningfully into every part of life, including our deepest struggles. It isn't simply quoting verses at a problem. It's bringing the wisdom, comfort, and truth of God's Word into conversation with the real, specific details of someone's story.

Christa's approach is aligned with the counseling distinctives taught by the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF), where she completed her Foundations of Biblical Counseling Certificate.

A few convictions that shape how Christa works

God draws near to the suffering

Scripture consistently describes God as present with people in their pain, not distant from it. Counseling, from this view, isn't about fixing a problem from a clinical distance — it's about walking alongside someone the way God himself draws near to the brokenhearted.

People are more than their symptoms

We're shaped by our bodies, our relationships, our histories, and our circumstances — and also by what we love, fear, and desire at the level of the heart. Good care pays attention to all of it, not just the presenting problem.

Change doesn't follow a script

What helps one person may not help another. Sometimes a particular passage of Scripture brings clarity. Sometimes it's being truly heard for the first time. Sometimes it's slow, ordinary faithfulness over many sessions. Christa aims to listen well enough to know which is needed, when.

Humility, not formulas

Caring for souls isn't a formula to apply. It calls for humility — a constant reliance on God, on Scripture, and on genuinely listening to the person in front of you rather than assuming you already know what they need.

Biblical counseling is distinct from licensed clinical therapy. Christa is a trained biblical counselor, not a licensed mental health professional, and her sessions are not a substitute for licensed treatment when that is needed.
